Zoom Workplace provides video meetings, chat, whiteboards, and collaboration tools.

Install and system requirements

Zoom Workplace is a video meeting app from Zoom Communications, Inc. for Windows 10 and Windows 11, as well as macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and web browsers. On Windows, install the 64-bit application by running its installer; setup is for the current user and includes no extra offers.

You can join a meeting with its link or ID without signing in, while hosting requires a free account. Before your first call, open Settings → Audio and Video to check that your microphone, speakers, and camera are working. The Zoom Workplace on ExeDepot listing identifies the program for anyone checking its Windows availability.

What the app does after setup

Zoom Workplace brings several communication and collaboration tools together in one desktop app: Zoom Meetings, Team Chat, Whiteboard, Notes, Mail and Calendar, and Clips. Meetings support screen sharing, breakout rooms, reactions, and virtual backgrounds, giving hosts options for presenting information and organizing participants during a call.

Team Chat provides persistent channels that can be used before, during, and after meetings, so conversation does not have to end when a call closes. Whiteboard offers shared spaces with drawing tools, sticky notes, and comments for working through ideas with other participants. Clips lets you record your screen and camera to share a short video message when a live meeting is not necessary.

Meeting limits and account options

The free Basic plan allows unlimited meetings with up to 100 participants. When other people are present, each meeting is limited to 40 minutes, after which it ends automatically. You can start another meeting, but groups that need uninterrupted sessions must account for this time limit.

Paid plans extend meetings to as long as 30 hours and add cloud recording and phone dial-in. They also include AI Companion, which can write meeting summaries. Live translated captions are available on supported plans, with translation into many languages; availability therefore depends on the plan in use.

Practical fit

Because participants can join without creating accounts and hosting is available with a free sign-up, the app can be used for calls with clients, classes, family, and groups already familiar with Zoom. The combination of meetings, chat, and whiteboards can also keep basic coordination and shared activities within the same app.

The key planning point for free group use is the 40-minute cutoff. Zoom Workplace is closed-source software, and the Basic plan does not provide longer group meetings or cloud recording; those capabilities require a paid plan. For a call, confirm the meeting duration and check audio and video settings beforehand so the session can start without avoidable setup delays.
